The World Cup organising committee wants 6,000 volunteers to help out at next year’s Rugby World Cup, of these, 4,500 come from club nominees.

Each club has the opportunity to select two potential volunteers and one reserve volunteer. Being a volunteer is not a glamorous role and it is unlikely that you will be deployed on a ground at match day. It is much more likely that you will be allocated a role such as ‘meeting and greeting’ at bus stations or railway stations.

Some general points:

1. You must be at least 18 on 1st April 2015.
2. You must speak English fluently and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
3. You have to be prepared to undergo a selection process and at least three training sessions (if selected).
4. You must be available to work at least 10 shifts in September/October 2015; however, it is likely that North West volunteers would be needed for the one match in Manchester (the only game in the NW of England).
5. You must cover your own costs.

Further information is available at http://www.sportswise.info/surveys/er2015vip/er2015vip.htm and on Lancashire RFU’s website.

Liverpool Collegiate’s selection process:
If you interested in becoming a volunteer you need to meet the national criteria (listed above); you need to be a member of LCC and you must have been involved in rugby at this club (at any level) for at least two seasons. Applicants are also asked to write a letter of application giving their name, date of birth, contact details, details of the role they have played within the rugby club and a short letter of between 100 and 200 words stating ‘why they would like to be a volunteer.’

Entries MUST be sent to: Chris Jones, Secretary, Liverpool Collegiate RUFC, 2 Villa Gloria Close, L199EY. The deadline to receive nominations is 5-00pm on Wednesday 2nd April 2015.

If more than three letters of applications are received, a short informal interview process will occur at the club. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Jones (07932-642344).
