Liverpool Collegiate win 37-5 at Fleetwood to top their Lancashire Cup group.

After a long trip up to Fleetwood the u15's were up for this game knowing that a win would leave them at the top of the group in this last cup match.
After a short walk across to a local school pitch the game got underway on what looked like a decent surface for the recent weather conditions.

Collegiate immediately took the game to Fleetwood and with the 1st Fleetwood scrum going against the head Collegiate had the upper hand.
Within 5 minutes the 1st try came through Paul Bamford crashballing through the centre to score just right of the posts.
Paul taking the conversion added the 2 points to make it 7-0 to the visitors.

Fleetwood came back looking to get in the game but 2 quick scores by Paul Major and Alex Murphy made the score 17-0 with Paul Bamford missing both conversions, one hitting the bar.

A minor resurgence by Fleetwood saw great defence by Collegiate as they broke the line a couple of times. Good tackling by Joe Rosenblatt, Tom Gaunt & Paul Major in particular prevented Fleetwood getting anything on the board in the 1st half.

Fleetwood getting frustrated started to give away penalties and a quick tap to Luke Mitchard saw him power over for a try.
Another move from a scrum out on the right saw the ball come out to Paul Bamford playing at centre, and despite please from the Collegiate coaching staff to get it out wide, Paul crashed over for his 2nd try and 27-0 to Collegiate.

The frustration getting the better of Fleetwood saw their best player, the No. 10, in the sin bin for a punch on Alex Murphy, half time Fleetwood 0 Liverpool Collegiate 27.

Collegiate came out with 1 change to the team with Elliot Deane replacing the injured Callum Gilbert in the pack.
Fleetwood started the 2nd half with 13 as they still had a man in the bin and a flanker off injured with what looked like concussion.
Fleetwood came out invigorated and seemed to be more fired up for the game after what must have been a rousing half time team talk by their coach.
It stayed at the same score for a good 10 minutes before a foul on Jake Nicol in the lineout gave us a penalty, a quick tap and it was Jake seeking revenge in the best way possible with a dive over in the left corner for a score, 32-0 to Collegiate.
Fleetwood now had the wind taken out of their sails and only minutes later Luke Mitchard powered over for his 2nd of the game and 37-0.

To give Fleetwood some credit they never gave up and with Collegiate thinking the game was in the bag they stopped playing for the 1st time in the game and Fleetwood scored a great try in the corner with the last play of the game.

Final score Fleetwood 5 Liverpool Collegiate 37
