Liverpool Collegiate U-15 v LSH
Sunday 12th October 2014
Score 7-39
Tries:- Vineet
Conv:- Paul Peasey

Once again the weather gods were on our side. Sun, sun and more sun, much to the dismay of the ladies gathered us fellas were in skimpy T-shirts. Game 4 of the season and first clash with our nearby bogie team.
Teams lined up looking fairly even except for the odd 6 foot saints rugby demon, the whistle blew, the ball flew and before we knew it LSH gained territory and grabbed the first try of the match. It must be said I did have that horrible doubt that all the training gains we had made were mythical and it would be men against boys, but NO, that was just the lingering remnants of my hangover talking, caused by dapper Dave, Ian and Brian forcing me to imbibe foul tasting liquors against my will at the 1st team match the day before. Collegiate struck straight back from the restart and mighty captain Vineet ploughed through to score. Paul calmed stroked the ball through the posts to make in 7 apiece.

Now I know that you know the score, and that we never scored another point and that the mighty saints might have sneaked a few tries here and there, but there were areas of mitigation and plenty of good points to ward of the fairly comprehensive defeat. We lost three good players to injury through the match, meaning many members of the team played out of position, the forwards were solid and did not give way to the bigger LSH pack, Kuba, Joe Mulhall and Matty B battered the LSH line repeatedly, we had a second Vineet try disallowed and did have two penalties close to their try line just saved, (possible training point there coaches, set piece penalty 5-10 yards out).

All in all LSH were the better side and our passing and tackling were definitely not the best, but we are a much better team now than the last time we played them. I hope that we get another chance this season to replay. Jamie and I are missing next weekend for the next cup match so give the Wire hell and notch up another blues victory.
Nod to Rhys, Matty F and Alex Carden for coming to watch whilst injured.
Champagne Moment:- Vineets quick return try in the first half.
