1st XV secure another home bonus point.

Following a disappointing result against Dukinfield the week before, the first xv found themselves hosting a struggling Port Sunlight side, hoping to regain some of the accuracy that had lead to a convincing win against Bowdon.
However, it was the visitors who had early dominance, with the boys in blue giving away numerous penalties for infringements at the breakdown. this saw them go behind to a penalty early on, which seemed to kick the home side into gear.
Knowing that they would find space in the backs, Collegiate started using some of the expansive rugby they like to play which, following some excellent handling, saw Sam Holliday score in the far right hand corner. With the successful conversion, Collegiate then took what would turn out to be a commanding hold on the game, converting a penalty before more good handling gave Chris Lloyd a chance to slide in at the corner.
These would be the final points of the half, with the home side seemingly in control and looking to secure another home bonus point.

The second half saw the first xv maintain control, with breaks coming seemingly at will through a tiring Port Sunlight defence. One of the lapses saw Chris Lloyd struggle his way over the line for his second and Colligates third try of the match.
Sensing the bonus point was near, the home side mounted attack after attack, with the fourth crucial try coming courtesy of a Sam Holliday break, setting up Chris Lloyd for his hat trick.
From here the game began to break down, with no side really taking control and play becoming loose. This did give wing Sam Holliday a chance to show his pace, mirroring the try from the week earlier, beating multiple defenders and scoring under the posts.
The final score of the match came from the pack who had been working non stop all game. Following yet another successful lineout drive, Mark Lucass found himself in possession of the ball and fell over the whitewash to give Collegiate try number 6 and putting the game well beyond any doubt.
This would not be the final say though. Clearly looking to regain a bit of pride both in their play and the result, the visitors began to stage attack after attack on the blue try line.
It is very easy to become complacent when in a commanding lead, but it takes a very special group of players to want to hold out and protect the scoreline even when the result is beyond doubt. this is what the first xv did for the remaining 5 minutes of the match, and it is a testament to their attitudes towards their defensive duties and a sign of real pride from both sides that they continued to battle up until the final whistle.

Another good bonus point at home, but the boys in blue must regroup for what is sure to be a tough away fixture at Ramsey next week
