Straight from the kick off Mac showed their intent turning the ball over in the first ruck and putting several phases together. However excellent defence kept them at bay and a turn over and huge run from the returning Peter Greene saw a defensive penalty allowing Collegiate to take the lead.
Most of the first half was a scrappy affair with defences on top and far too many handling errors and nothing much to note except an exchange of penalties. However, with the wind behind them in the second half collegiate started to dominate and soon scored the first try of the match from Dave Fox after a brilliant kick return by Simon Crowther.
Unfortunately straight from the kick off Collegiate handed Macclesfield the ball and heavy pressure saw the full back go over near the posts and the conversion brought the game back to one point. Collegiate then stepped up the pressure and once Mac had a player sin binned for a red zone penalty where able to capitalise with two quick scores from Eddie Taylor and Peter Greene.
Macclesfield still never gave up and only some excellent last ditched defensive work prevented a late consolation for the home team. Next up is a home fixture against Manchester which has traditionally been a tough fixture so hopefully we will have plenty of support to cheer us on.
