Wallasey has all the typical features of an away ground with a weatherworn car park and a clubhouse selling superheated coffee and hangover relieving bacon butties. Obviously it was raining…
At the beginning of the game the coaches all agreed that “conversions don’t count”. Frankly this was just as well as there are tribes of Amazonian Indians, who haven’t yet made contact with civilization , who have a better record at conversions than we have…
Caldy A 1- 1 Collegiate
Try Frank
Caldy B 1-1 Collegiate
Try Calum
Converted by Fintan ( but remember they don’t count…)
Wallasey 0-4 Collegiate
Tries Ellis (converted!), Fintan, Fintan, Cathal
The standard of our performances improved over the course of the morning but yet again nobody could criticize the level of effort. Some of our tackling and defence was outstanding and Frank’s try against Caldy was one of the best we’ve scored this season.
We were a little bit understrength this week and needed a strong representation from the Lynch family to bolster things up.
John was relatively lucky to escape with all 3 children intact after Fintan was given a “hands on” lesson about shirt pulling from the referee!!
Overall it was a good morning for the U11s. thanks to Rob and John for coaching.
Man of the match - Olly
